CHAPTER 4. WHY COLE WAS NERVOUS

Cole lowered his voice.

“What do you think you found?”

Emily opened the folder.

Inside were copies of logistics records.

Supply requests.

Equipment transfers.

And several signatures.

Cole looked at the pages.

“These are routine.”

Emily shook her head.

“No.”

She pointed at one transfer.

“This shipment never arrived.”

Then another.

“Neither did this one.”

Cole folded his arms.

“That isn’t my problem.”

Emily turned the page.

His signature appeared at the bottom.

The dining hall became quiet.

Cole stared at it.

“That could be copied.”

Emily nodded.

“That’s why we checked the security footage.”

His face went pale.

Emily continued.

“We also checked access logs.”

Cole said nothing.

Then she looked toward the soldiers around them.

For days, Cole had been acting like he controlled the room.

Now everyone understood why he had suddenly become so quiet.
