CHAPTER 6. THE DOOR THAT NEVER CLOSED AGAIN

Three months later, the metal enclosure was gone.

Daniel had ordered it removed from the mansion.

The original trust was restored.

Claire remained fully protected under Robert’s final instructions.

Eleanor no longer controlled any family financial decisions.

Daniel still spoke to his mother.

But everything had changed.

One afternoon, Claire stood in the same hallway where Daniel had found her.

Daniel walked toward her.

You okay?

Claire nodded.

Better.

He looked toward the empty space where the bars had been.

I should have known something was wrong.

Claire took his hand.

You know now.

Daniel smiled slightly.

That was enough.

The mansion had always been filled with locks.

Locked offices.

Locked safes.

Locked files.

But after that day, Daniel changed one rule permanently.

No person in his family would ever again be silenced behind a locked door.

And no secret would ever be worth more than the person trying to tell the truth.
