Daniel stood again.
Victoria stepped toward him.

Daniel looked toward Lily.
Then back at Victoria.
You need to leave the house for now.
Victoria’s face changed.
Because of one video?
Daniel answered calmly.
Because my daughter was afraid I would not believe her.
Victoria started crying.
Daniel did not argue.
He picked Lily up again.
The little girl rested her head against his shoulder.
Daniel looked toward the camera.
Without it, Victoria could have told any version of the story she wanted.
But the recording had removed every excuse.
And Daniel knew exactly whose safety mattered most.
