Daniel spread the papers across the cabinet.
Eleanor had changed several parts of her estate only weeks earlier.
Vanessa had expected to receive control over a large investment account.
But the final documents removed her completely.
Daniel looked toward his mother.
“You changed the trust?”
Eleanor nodded weakly.
Vanessa stepped forward.
“She was manipulated.”
Daniel stared at her.
“By who?”
Vanessa had no answer.
Then Daniel found another document.
It showed several attempts to transfer money before Eleanor changed the trust.
Daniel looked at Vanessa.
“You already tried to move the money.”
Her confidence disappeared.
“I was protecting it.”
Daniel shook his head.
“No. You were trying to control it.”
