CHAPTER 3. THE ARGUMENT DANIEL COULDNT IGNORE

Daniel stepped between Claire and Eleanor.

Mom.

Back up.

Eleanor looked offended.

You are taking her side again.

Daniel frowned.

This is not about sides.

Claire held Lily tightly.

It has been happening every time you leave us alone with her.

Daniel turned toward Claire.

What has?

Claire explained that Eleanor had repeatedly ignored the routines they had set for Lily.

Meal times.

Nap times.

Foods Claire had specifically asked her not to give the baby.

Eleanor rolled her eyes.

I raised children before either of you knew what you were doing.

Daniel looked at Lily.

The little girl was still crying against Claires shoulder.

Then Claire said something that changed his expression.

Your mother knew Lily reacts badly to one of those foods.

Daniel turned sharply.

Is that true?

Eleanor stayed silent.

Daniel looked toward the plate on the floor.

Suddenly, the broken glass was no longer the biggest problem in the room.
