CHAPTER 4. THE KEY INSIDE THE AIRPLANE

Robert took the wooden airplane carefully from Noah.

The boy watched as his grandfather examined the underside.

A tiny panel opened near the base.

Inside was a brass key.

Victoria immediately stepped forward.

Robert.

He held up one hand.

Dont.

Marcus explained that the key opened a private safe Daniel had rented shortly before his death.

Only Daniel and Marcus had known about it.

Victoria looked furious.

Marcus continued.

Daniel was worried someone might challenge Noahs inheritance.

So he placed the original trust documents inside the safe.

Robert looked at Victoria.

Were you planning to destroy them?

She shook her head.

No.

Then why send Noah outside?

Victoria started crying.

Because he wouldnt give me the airplane.

Robert stared at her in disbelief.

Noah looked frightened again.

Robert immediately lowered his voice.

You are never going to be punished for keeping something your father gave you.

Noah held onto his grandfather.

Victoria looked around the room.

Every guest was now watching her.

For the first time, she realized there was no version of the story she could control anymore.
