The classroom door opened.
Officer Marcus stepped inside.
Harper turned sharply.
“Can I help you?”
Marcus looked toward Ethan.
Then Sophie.
Then directly at Harper.
“Yes.”
He held up a tablet.
“I watched the footage.”
Harper’s expression changed.
Marcus continued.
“Ethan did not cause the incident.”
The classroom became completely silent.
Sophie slowly lowered her phone.
Ethan finally stepped away from the wall.
Harper tried to explain.
“You’re taking this out of context.”
Marcus shook his head.
“The camera recorded the entire context.”
Ethan looked toward Sophie.
She gave him a small nod.
Harper stared at the security camera above them.
For the first time, she understood that the students had not been the only witnesses.
The camera had been watching too.
