Before I could react, Titan exploded forward.
The leash ripped through my gloved hand.
Titan!
Stop!
I ran after him, trying to understand what he had detected.
Then I saw where he was going.
A little girl, maybe seven years old, was running across the grass in a bright pink winter coat.
She was chasing a yellow frisbee that had landed near a thick line of bushes and oak trees.
She had no idea Titan was charging toward her.
I shouted again.
Titan, down!
The girl bent to pick up the frisbee.
Then she heard the pounding paws behind her.
She turned.
Her smile vanished.
Titan reached her.
He knocked her backward onto the ground and positioned himself directly over her.
The girl screamed.
For one terrible second, the entire park seemed to freeze.
