Margaret walked into the mansion and immediately saw police in the hallway.
Her face changed.
Daniel noticed.
Mom.
What happened?
She asked.
Daniel held up the old photograph.
Margaret stopped.
Where did you find that?
Daniel’s voice became cold.
Inside the wall.
For several seconds, she said nothing.
Rachel stepped beside him.
A little girl was living in there.
Margaret looked toward Emily.
Then she closed her eyes.
Daniel stepped closer.
You knew.
Margaret whispered.
Not everything.
Tell me about Sarah.
Margaret’s eyes filled with tears.
Your father lied to you.
Daniel already knew that.
Why?
Margaret finally explained.
Sarah had not died.
After a family dispute, Daniel’s father secretly sent her to live with relatives.
He believed Sarah threatened the family’s inheritance arrangements.
Years later, Margaret discovered the truth.
But by then Sarah had disappeared again.
Daniel pointed toward Emily.
What does that have to do with her?
Margaret looked at the child.
Emily is Sarah’s daughter.
Daniel went completely still.
Rachel stared at Margaret.
You knew she was here?
Margaret nodded slowly.
Only for a few days.
Daniel’s expression hardened.
And instead of telling us, you hid her behind a wall?
