Michael opened the front door.
My attorney stood outside.
Beside her were two corporate security officers and a representative from the family trust.
Rebecca walked into the dining room carrying a thick folder.
Michael stared at her.
“What is this?”
Rebecca looked at me.
“Would you like me to explain?”
I nodded.
She placed the folder on the table.
“Effective immediately, Michael Carter’s authority over all accounts associated with the trust has been suspended.”
Evelyn stood.
“You cannot do that.”
Rebecca looked at her.
“The trust can.”
Tessa stared between us.
Michael grabbed the papers.
“This house is marital property.”
Rebecca shook her head.
“No.”
She opened the original trust agreement.
“This residence was transferred into an irrevocable family trust before the marriage.”
Michael’s face changed.
Rebecca continued.
“The property company is also held separately.”
Then she placed another document on the table.
“And this transfer request contains a signature the trust has identified as potentially falsified.”
Michael looked at me.
“You sent them this?”
“Yes.”
His voice rose.
“You were planning this behind my back.”
I stared at him.
“No.”
“You gave me a reason to prepare.”
Then Rebecca opened her laptop.
A video appeared.
The kitchen security footage.
Michael stopped speaking.
He knew exactly what it showed.
