Briggs tried to ignore Rex.
But the dog continued staring directly at him.
Daniel leaned forward.
“You ever been around military dogs before?”
Briggs smiled.
“No.”
Rex immediately growled softly.
Daniel watched him carefully.
Briggs reached toward the table.
Rex reacted again.
A waitress behind the counter stopped what she was doing.
Everyone in the diner felt the tension.
Briggs looked irritated.
“Control your dog.”
Daniel shook his head.
“He is controlled.”
Then he looked directly at Briggs.
“That’s why I’m paying attention.”
Briggs stopped smiling.
